Definition of Malware
Malware, or malicious software, represents all varients
of computer contaminant including:
Similarly to computer hacking and cracking, most
malware is created for two primary reasons. Generally most malware can be
traced to those wishing to make a financial gain. It is also often created
simply for attention. Currently relatively small but with a growing trend,
malware is also beginning to be more frequently created for revenge purposes, often
by disgruntled employees or commercial competitors.
Malware does not include unintentionally defective
software, software bugs, or vulnerabilities, but malware can take advantage of these
issues.
